Every Wrinkle Tells a Story

Embracing Aging with Vitality: Every Wrinkle Tells a Story

May 13, 20253 min read

Let’s just get this out of the way: yes, I have wrinkles. And not the “maybe if I squint I can’t see them” kind. I’m talking about real lines. Real creases. And to be honest? I struggle with them.

It feels like one morning I woke up, looked in the mirror, and—poof—there they were. Practically overnight. Like my skin had a secret meeting while I was asleep and decided, “Let’s age... aggressively.” And I know it’s only going to get deeper from here. More lines. More texture. More, “Wait, when did that show up?”

I don’t want to care, but some days I do. I catch my reflection and wonder where that old version of me went—the one with smoother skin and fewer stories written across her face. But this version of me? She’s weathered, yes—but also wise. This face holds the years. It holds the love I’ve given, the losses I’ve carried, the laughter, the survival, the trying again.

These lines aren’t just about time. They’re about grief and worry, and how deeply I’ve loved. The more I’ve grieved, the more I realize how fiercely I’ve cared. I wear it all. And honestly? I wouldn’t trade that.

But here’s what I will keep doing: I will care for myself. Not to reverse the clock, but to feel alive in the time I’m in.

I move my body with love and purpose—not to punish it, but to keep it strong.
I eat foods that nourish me, because I deserve to feel good—not because I’m trying to earn rest or approval.
I train. I stretch. I sweat. But I also slow down.

Because just as much as I care for my body, I care for my mind and spirit.

I breathe deeply. I meditate—sometimes messily, often imperfectly, but always with intention.
I create space for the incredible people in my life—the ones who make me laugh, who listen without fixing, who nourish my soul just by showing up.
I protect that space like my life depends on it. Because in many ways, it does.

This is what vitality looks like now: not perfect skin, but full presence.
Not chasing youth, but choosing wholeness.

So no, I don’t love the lines every day. But I love what they mean.
They tell me I’ve lived. I’ve felt. I’ve grown.
And I’m still becoming—every single day.

Here’s to the wrinkles, the wisdom, and the woman I continue to meet every morning.
Even if she’s holding her coffee in one hand and her glasses in the other, wondering what she came into the kitchen for.

I’m not trying to turn back time.
I’m just trying to move forward—strong, steady, and fully present in a life I love.
